Thumbs up for Mitsubishi’s new Montero Sport 2.5 GLS 4x2

After the successful introduction of the Montero Sport 4x4 models in 2008, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines now strengthens its SUV lineup with the new Montero Sport 2.5-liter 4x2 automatic. This two-wheel drive version of this SUV wonder completes the Montero Sport model array as it sets to captivate more people. Aside from the basic platform and suspension similar to the 4x4 version, the Montero Sport 4x2 GLS exhibits a classy ride. Extensive investment on research and development for this mid-sized SUV made sure that Montero Sport provides a comfortable riding experience. Dimensions

The 4x2 version boasts of dimensions not far from the 4x4 measuring 4,695 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,840 mm tall and the wheelbase at 2,800 mm. Engine

Montero Sport 4x2 is equipped with a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve common-rail direct-injection diesel with quick-spool turbocharger and front-mounted intercooler. This 2.5 liter engine which is also found in the Strada model, has a maximum output of 136 PS at 3,500 rpm and 314 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm and can easily cruise more than 170 kph and at the same time being fuel efficient at 15.5 km/liter (at a constant speed of 80 kph)

The all-new Montero sport adapts Mitsubishi Motors’ latest technology, thus, it is equipped with Invecs-II 4-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic mode. Braking power is complemented by front 16” ventilated disc brakes and anti-lock braking system (ABS) that works with the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). 265/65 R17 tires mounted on stylish 17-inch aluminum wheels ensures excellent grip on and off the road. Safety features include dual-stage front SRS airbags and seatbelts that provide maximum protection during frontal collision.
